Strawberry Cocktail

Where do you eat, when and with whom? These three simple questions, if answered honestly and adjusted accordingly can be more beneficial to your health and your weight than any crazy diet. When we eat at proper times, concentrating on the consumption of food and do so in the company of loved ones, we tend to eat better food and less of it.

If you are sitting in front of the television with a bag of chips, how often do you eventually get up to throw the empty bag away? I hope you do get up and don’t just discard it on the nearest surface. It is easy to overeat when concentrating or lost in another activity. If you want to lose some weight, first consider where you are eating and change it. Do you eat in the car? You should never eat in the car as part of a daily routine. Do you eat at your desk? Sometimes this is unavoidable, but you should do everything in your power to prevent it. Do you eat in front of the television? Unless it is the final four or the Masters then there is no excuse. Turn the damn thing off and find your dining room table. I bet you have one. It will be the large, flat surface covered in mail and last weeks dry cleaning.

Do you eat breakfast? If not, do you start snacking before lunch? Try breakfast instead. That will eliminate the mid morning hunger and associated snacking. Do you often skip lunch and then come home or stop for junk before dinner? Have lunch instead.

If you don’t starve yourself, but instead eat regular, normal to small meals, your body will soon adjust and you will not only be satiated, but you will keep your weight under control. Give it a try.

I know it is only Tuesday, but I made this cocktail the other day and really loved it. It’s not sweet but tangy. Add more sugar if you like it sweet.
